A new curb and gutter connects to an existing asphalt concrete pavement section with a wedge cut profile. The existing asphalt is cold planed and ground down one and a half inches minimum to maintain a slope between two and five percent. A tack coat is applied along the face of the cut prior to placing full-depth asphalt concrete twelve inches deep or matching the existing pavement section. A one-foot minimum sawcut is established on either side of the joint. Six inches of subgrade is scarified and recompacted to ninety-five percent density beneath the new curb, gutter, and sidewalk assembly.
