A valve box assembly connects to an underground water main via a line valve or auxiliary hydrant valve. The assembly incorporates a D & L Supply M-8064 slip base and an M-8058 16-inch slip top, housing a one-inch diameter stem extension with a centering ring and operating nut. A concrete collar surrounds the upper portion of the valve box at finish grade, finished with a D & L Supply M-8044 water lid recessed one-eighth inch below the surrounding asphalt pavement. A bituminous tack coat seals the interface between the asphalt and the concrete collar.
