An asphalt concrete pavement section consists of three inches of asphalt concrete over nine inches of Class II aggregate base, supported on a compacted subgrade. The aggregate base layer conforms to Caltrans standard specifications for Class 2 aggregate base with a minimum R-value of 78, designed for a traffic index of 5.0 and an R-value of 10 per the project geotechnical report. The subgrade is compacted according to geotechnical engineer recommendations. This section is intended for offsite asphalt concrete pavement or to match existing pavement sections, whichever is greater.
