A temporary silt fence is installed along contours to control sediment runoff. Wooden or steel fence posts are positioned on the downstream side of the fence at a maximum spacing of ten feet on center. Mirafi filter fabric is extended down into an approximate six-inch by six-inch trench and backfilled with free draining granular material. The fabric flap is embedded below the backfill to prevent sediment bypass. An optional sidewalk and curb and gutter appear adjacent to the installation area.
