This cupola intersection detail features slate shingles secured with copper slating nails over plywood roof sheathing and a wood truss framing system. An asphalt membrane is applied at the roof-to-wall junction, incorporating a weep hole at 16 inches on center. A stainless steel metal flashing with a drip edge transitions from the roof plane up the wall assembly. The vertical wall construction consists of wood stud framing backed by a sheet water barrier, a 1/2-inch treated plywood substrate, and 5/16-inch cement fiber panels, complemented by a custom-ripped wood blocking element.
