This concrete masonry unit wall detail defines the minimum clear spacing requirements for reinforcing bars. Vertical reinforcement requires a minimum clear spacing of one and a half inches or one point five times the bar diameter, whichever is larger, with a minimum of two inches below grade. Horizontal reinforcement requires a minimum clear spacing of one inch or one bar diameter, whichever is larger. Variable 'd' represents the diameter of the larger bar.
