A flexible expansion joint connects a stainless steel pipe to a polyvinyl chloride pipe using mechanical couplings. A number 8 American Wire Gauge high-molecular-weight polyethylene bond cable spans across the joint for electrical continuity. The cable is secured to the stainless steel pipe using a typical pin-brazed cable-to-pipe connection and to the other side via an exothermic weld or pin brazing as detailed on sheet CP-7.
