Concrete pavement slabs feature welded wire fabric reinforcement placed at a depth of T/4 plus one inch from the top surface with wire spacing of one-half inch or three inches maximum. Dowel bars project from the pavement joint or edge with sizes and locations determined by table 3. The accompanying table provides the minimum required area of steel in square inches per foot and corresponding welded wire fabric designations for pavement thicknesses ranging from six to seventeen inches.
