The pavement assembly consists of a four-inch hot mix asphalt surface placed in two passes over a bituminous tack coat. A bituminous prime coat is applied above a six-inch graded crushed aggregate base course. The base course rests directly on a twelve-inch compacted subgrade, where existing material is removed and constructed per specification section 31 00 00.00 06.
