A thickened edge expansion joint meets a structure, manhole, or trench drain with specified rebar placement. Slabs marked 'R' on the joint plan include embedded reinforcing steel sized and spaced per table requirements. Edge reinforcing is positioned with a maximum spacing offset or a calculated depth based on pavement thickness T. Pavement joints and support methods comply with the referenced concrete paving specification.
T/4 + 25 X X X X X X T = PAVEMENT THICKNESS 1/2 REBAR SPACING OR 76 MAX. PAVEMENT JOINT OR EDGE REINFORCE SLABS MARKED "R" ON JOINT PLAN WITH REBAR. SEE TABLE 2 FOR SIZE AND SPACING OF REBAR. NOTE: 1. REFER TO SPEC 32 13 14.13 FOR SUPPORT METHOD. C1 SCALE: NTS THICKENED EDGE EXPANSION JOINT AT STRUCTURE/MANHOLE/TRENCH DRAIN T
