Four two-and-a-half-inch fire department inlet connections mount to the top of a schedule 40 galvanized steel riser, extending forty-eight inches above grade. An eighteen by eighteen by eight-inch concrete block surrounds the post at the surface. Below grade, the schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe is wrapped in six mil plastic and connects to a ball drip assembly set on a four by sixteen by sixteen-inch minimum size concrete block. Half a cubic yard of gravel backfill surrounds the drainage area, encased in an eight mil polyethylene film wrapped around the top and sides. A soft-seated check valve and box connect to the feed line twelve inches minimum below the riser assembly. The fire department connection is painted with one coat of red oxide primer and one coat of UW green sash enamel.
