Portland cement concrete pavement abuts an asphalt concrete shoulder at a construction joint sealed with portland cement concrete sealant. The contractor must remove small bits of asphalt concrete in spalls prior to sealing. The joint interfaces the concrete slab of thickness T with the adjacent asphalt shoulder.
