A structural steel joist seat connects across a panel joint using a centerline splice plate. The tie plate and seat plate are welded directly to the splice plate. A stiffener plate is notched around the splice plate and welded to both the splice plate and the channel flange. Fasteners secure the assembly at the beam flanges.
