A subsurface sand and grease trap installation beds in native soil. A twelve-inch diameter high-density polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride perforated pipe at zero percent slope receives flow from the sand and grease trap. The trench contains a bottom layer of ASTM C33 filter sand topped with two-inch washed drain rock or chips. A four ounce per square yard filter fabric wraps the perimeter of the facility. Minimum vertical clearances include one foot of cover, a variable depth per plan, one and a half feet of sand thickness, and one and a half feet to the water table.
