An eight-inch diameter by three-sixteenth-inch thick steel pipe is filled with concrete and topped with a rounded concrete cap. The pipe extends down into a three-thousand psi cast-in-place concrete foundation, surrounded by compacted fill and asphalt or concrete paving. A sloped cement wash provides drainage at the paving interface, where an expansion joint is installed. Two coats of traffic yellow paint finish the exposed steel pipe, unless otherwise specified.
