Two typical pavement cross-sections are supported by suitable stabilized natural soils and structural site grading fill. The concrete section consists of a 5.0-inch Portland cement concrete layer placed over a 5.0-inch aggregate base course. The asphalt section consists of a 3.0-inch asphalt wearing course over a 9.0-inch aggregate base course. Both assemblies require a suitable stabilized natural subgrade or structural fill extending down to competent natural soils.
