About this detail

Establish the location of the first bolt line along the work line, noting that the length to work point at the brace only applies at the bottom end of the brace. Establish inner and outer bolt row offsets with respective gauge dimensions. Lay out the bolt hole pattern using the hole size, spacing, and edge distance as shown. Determine the gusset edge width perpendicular to the work line by adding the weld length plus twice the minimum return. Return to the beam or column and verify that the minimum weld length, including deductions for clips and weld starts and stops, is maintained.
