An earth drainage swale is cut into subgrade soil with a level bottom measuring two feet minimum in width. The side banks transition upward at a maximum slope of two horizontal to one vertical. Sloped grades approach the swale edges requiring a three inch minimum vertical drop. All excavation adheres to civil grading requirements for surface water drainage.
