A thickened expansion joint in a concrete pavement assembly incorporates a preformed non-extruding joint filler spanning the depth of the joint with a specified width of 20. A joint seal is applied at the top surface with a 3 radius profile. The concrete slab transitions from a standard pavement thickness T to a thickened edge of 1.25T extending 1524 from the joint on each side.
