New portland cement concrete pavement ties to existing portland cement concrete pavement using a dowel bar doweled and epoxied into the existing slab. The dowel is embedded at the mid-depth of the slab thickness denoted as T divided by two. One end of the dowel is painted and oiled to allow movement. A portland cement concrete sealant finishes the joint at the top surface.
