A cast-in-place concrete curb bears on a six-inch thick compacted base course or drain rock with continuous number four epoxy-coated reinforcing bars. A guardrail is anchored into the curb using a sleeve and grout. A sealed expansion joint separates the curb from the adjacent concrete sidewalk and base. A boulder wall with underlying drainage fabric abuts the curb with a two-inch minimum drain rock fill between them.
