Metal grating spans between a supporting steel angle and a structural steel beam, with a three-foot-eight-inch clear span. The support angle is welded to the web of the steel beam with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds spaced at two inches on center typical, while keeping welds out of the beam k-area. Grating units are sized per plan and bear on the steel angle and beam flange.
