A cast-in-place concrete curb measuring one foot six inches deep by six inches wide bears on compacted road base alongside an asphalt pavement section and a concrete sidewalk. Two number four reinforcing bars are placed longitudinally within the concrete curb profile. The exposed top corner of the curb features a one-half-inch radius rounded edge set against the finished grade and an expansion joint separating the curb from the adjacent concrete sidewalk. The asphalt paving consists of a six-inch layer over a deeper road base substrate.
