The six-inch and twelve-inch concrete curb and gutter sections are constructed with Class 3 concrete placed on a compacted subgrade and Class 2 aggregate base or twelve inches of compacted native soil. The assemblies interface with asphalt concrete or concrete pavement on the gutter side and finish grade on the back of the curb. Expansion joints are specified at thirty-foot intervals, and weakened plane joints are spaced at fifteen feet. The six-inch profile features a twelve-inch overall depth at the back, a six-inch curb height, and a gutter cross slope transitioning to the pavement edge.
