A nine-inch minimum diameter sediment control log is seated within a compacted soil trench and anchored by one-and-a-half by one-and-a-half by eighteen-inch minimum wooden stakes driven at a maximum spacing of four feet. A wedge of soil free of rocks and debris is backfilled on the uphill side of the log and tightly compacted using a shovel or weighted lawn roller. Adjacent sediment control logs overlap by a minimum of twelve inches to prevent gaps along the flow path.
