An uninsulated copper conductor is stripped of its insulation and connected to a copper pipe using a brass grounding clamp secured by three hexagonal head brass bolts. An insulated anode wire runs downward along the exterior of the pipe. Wire insulation is stripped at the grounding clamp to ensure proper electrical continuity.
