A cast iron manhole frame and lid or grate is recessed one-half inch below finished grade on a catch basin or junction box, and one-quarter inch on a manhole or valve box. Lids and rings are cambered to match finished grade and roadway slope. A ten-inch minimum concrete ring surrounds the utility structure in roadways, reinforced with two number four ring steel bars. A break out line indicates the transition to the existing structure. An optional four or six-inch precast concrete grade ring is provided as required.
