A cast-in-place concrete expansion joint features a three-eighths-inch wide opening at the grade level. The joint incorporates a joint sealant placed over a one-half-inch diameter backer rod, set above a three-eighths-inch full depth premolded expansion joint filler. The concrete edges at the grade surface are finished with a three-eighths to one-half inch radius. The sealant depth measures one-half inch, with a total depth to the filler of one and one-quarter inches.
