Two adjacent concrete slabs are separated by a pre-molded expansion joint filler, cut back as required after the concrete pour. Number four stainless steel dowels, eighteen inches long and epoxy coated, are spaced at twelve inches on center across the joint. Each dowel is encased in a twelve-inch expansion sleeve, waxed to prevent bonding with the concrete. The joint is finished at the surface with a backing rod and caulking as specified.
