A standard French drain assembly is set within native material excavation and finished grade. A perforated pipe of a size determined per plans is bedded on a minimum of one inch of sand or rock at the trench bottom, surrounded by three-quarter inch clean crushed rock with a minimum twelve-inch depth above the pipe crown. A geotextile filter fabric, specified as Mirafi 140N or an approved equal, completely wraps the crushed rock bed beneath four inches of sand and surface material per the landscape plan, maintaining minimum six-inch side clearances. A secondary detail shows a black NDS atrium grate connected via a six-inch PVC riser and wye fitting to the storm pipe run, with the grate rim installed flush with finish grade or wood mulch unless noted otherwise.
