A five-and-a-half inch thick concrete pedestrian paving slab is reinforced with embedded steel bars placed at equal spacing. The concrete slab rests on a granular sub-base material of varying thickness. The sub-base bears directly upon compacted subgrade soil. Vertical dimensions vary across the assembly layers per project requirements.
