A structural steel gusset plate connects to a column base plate and is supported by a minimum one-half-inch gusset support plate. The diagonal brace member frames into the gusset plate using a bolted connection. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the gusset to the stiffener on three sides top and bottom typically. Working point locations and approximate dimensions govern the layout of the base plate and gusset interface.
