A twelve-inch deep concrete section transitions to a standard slab thickness. The thickened edge measures one foot in width and includes a trowel joint six inches from the outer face. A minimum of four inches of crushed aggregate sub-base follows a one-to-one slope transition from the thickened edge up to the standard slab sub-base elevation. The total depth of the thickened edge assembly varies per plan, with the concrete slab thickness specified as four inches.
