This asphalt concrete pavement section consists of three inches of asphalt concrete surface course placed directly over nine inches of Class II aggregate base and a compacted subgrade. The aggregate base conforms to Caltrans standard specifications requiring a minimum R-value of 78, based on a traffic index of 5.0 and an R-value of 10 from the project geotechnical report. The subgrade requires compaction in accordance with geotechnical engineer recommendations. This section applies to offsite asphalt concrete pavement or matches the existing pavement section, whichever is greater.
