A beam frames into a wide flange or hollow structural section column utilizing a slotted connection with cap plates. Member B features a wall thickness with plate thickness based on the member depth and a 3/4 inch cap plate at the roof condition. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds secure the cap plate to the hollow structural section on three sides on each side of the shear connection plate. Similar conditions apply for beams on both sides of the column, and deck support angles are provided as required at the connection.
