A hollow structural section column base connection bears on a concrete slab on grade. The steel column is welded to a one-quarter-inch by five-inch by ten-inch base plate using a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. The assembly is anchored to the concrete using two one-half-inch diameter Titen HD anchors with a two-point-three-five-inch embedment. The slab features a three-foot square by eight-inch thick thickened section reinforced with three number four bars each way.
