A temporary silt fence assembly is constructed along the limits of disturbance with wooden or steel fence posts spaced at a maximum of ten feet on center positioned on the downstream side of the fence. Mirafi filter fabric is installed against the upstream side of the posts with the toe-in fabric flap laid in the bottom of an approximate six-inch by six-inch trench. The trench is backfilled with free draining granular material and compacted. Optional sidewalk and curb and gutter elements are shown at a minimum offset of two feet.
