A concrete sidewalk rests on a prepared subgrade with a slope per plan and a thickness of four inches. The outer edge features a thickened edge of eight inches when adjacent to landscaping, placed three inches from the edge typically. The sidewalk connects to an adjacent curb by pouring monolithically or doweling with number four reinforcing bars at twelve inches in length spaced at eighteen inches on center. An asphalt concrete pavement section abuts the opposite side of the curb over aggregate base material.
