A standard heavy-duty vehicular paving cross-section placed over prepared earth. The upper wearing surface consists of a 4"-6" thick bituminous surface course. Beneath the asphalt layer rests a 6"-8" thick stabilized aggregate base course for load distribution and drainage. The entire assembly bears directly upon compacted subgrade.
