A standard twelve-inch Portland cement concrete curb of Class A mix measures ten inches wide at the top with a batter along the front face. Two number four reinforcing bars run continuously at the top and bottom with three inches of clear cover from the sides. Additional number four reinforcing bars hook over the continuous bottom bars every twenty-four inches into the subgrade. Asphalt concrete paving abuts the back of the curb over a compacted base rock layer resting on subgrade prepared per the geotechnical report. Optional weepholes are required on curbs and curb and gutters where landscaping slopes toward the curb, spaced at ten feet on center or at each scoreline.
