Straw wattles are placed along contours for sediment control, secured by wooden stakes spaced four feet on center typically. Each wattle sits in a trench one foot minimum deep with soil backfilled around the base. Two-by-two-inch by three-foot wooden stakes are driven through or adjacent to the wattles to anchor them firmly into the soil. Adjacent wattles are abutted tightly end to end without overlapping, and the ends are securely knotted.
