A doweled concrete construction joint utilizes a steel dowel embedded at the slab mid-depth of half the total thickness. One end of the dowel is installed with drill and epoxy into the cured concrete, while the opposite end is painted and oiled to allow horizontal movement. A portland cement concrete sealant is applied at the top of the joint for weatherproofing and protection. Dowel sizing and spacing are specified per the project dowel requirements table.
