Utility structures receive a minimum ten-inch concrete ring reinforced with two number four steel ring bars in roadways and paved areas. Cast-iron manhole frames and lids or grates are recessed one-half inch below finished grade for catch basins and junction boxes, and one-quarter inch for manholes and valve boxes. Lids and rings are cambered to match finished grade and roadway slopes. Four-inch or six-inch precast concrete grade rings are used as required, and concrete collars are omitted in landscape areas.
