The check dam assembly consists of common fill wrapped in Mirafi filter fabric and surfaced with six-inch diameter riprap twelve inches thick. Section A-A shows the center of the channel shaped six inches lower than the edges with the riprap embedded six inches into the slope. Section B-B indicates a two-foot height and six-foot width profile for the dam structure. Check dams must be placed perpendicular to flow direction, kept out of natural stream beds, and constructed so water does not bypass the ends.
