The brace connects to a gusset plate bolted with structural fasteners and welded to a gusset support plate. A one-half-inch minimum typical gusset support plate ties into the column web and flange with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on three sides top and bottom. The beam frames into the column with a bolted shear connection and is stiffened with plate elements. The working point is located at the center of the column and one-half of the actual beam depth.
