Concrete thrust blocks are poured against undisturbed soil at pipe fittings, bends, and tees to restrain hydraulic thrust forces in pressurized water or utility lines. These configurations require a minimum bearing thickness of twelve inches and specified angular orientation up to forty-five degrees maximum against the trench wall. The mass concrete bears directly against the fitting collar to distribute dynamic loads safely into the surrounding earth.
