A braced frame connection at the bottom of a brace features a gusset plate attached to a column and beam framing intersection. The gusset plate is welded to stiffener plates with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds applied to three sides top and bottom. A gusset support plate requires a one-half inch minimum thickness for gusset thicknesses under two inches, and a three-quarter inch minimum for gusset thicknesses of two inches or greater. The assembly includes a beam with a doubler plate and work points located at the center of the column and half the actual beam depth.
