An exterior door of scheduled type sits above a metal threshold mounted on a sealed concrete slab and sidewalk. A door sweep seals the bottom of the door leaf against the threshold. The exterior sidewalk is pitched at a maximum of two percent away from the opening. A vertical joint between the concrete elements is sealed with a backer rod and caulk over compressible filler.
