An airfield Portland cement concrete section ranging from seventeen to eighteen inches thick is placed adjacent to existing Portland cement concrete to remain. Dowels tie the new concrete section to the existing slabs per detail requirements. The concrete bears on an existing base course and subgrade featuring twelve-inch minimum stair steps for each layer.
