A standard asphalt pavement section consists of three inches of asphalt at the surface, underlain by an eight-inch untreated base course and twelve inches of structural fill. The structural fill rests upon a properly prepared subgrade as specified in the geotechnical report. General notes require referencing the geotechnical report for further asphalt and concrete paving requirements, native soil acceptability for structural fill, and compaction requirements to ninety-five percent relative compaction.
